The Global Ministries Commission encourages our EC people to take advantage of the Short Term Mission Opportunities that are available all around the world. E.C. Global Ministries cooperates with 18 mission agencies, most of whom offer short term opportunities of various time lengths all over the world. 

In addition, the Global Ministries Commission sponsors numerous work teams throughout the year. Currently we send three teams each summer that serve in Alaska with Victory Ministries. Each team goes for two weeks. The first team goes for the last two weeks of May to Victory Bible Camp, about two hours from Anchorage. The other two teams serve in late July – late August at Camp LIWA, which is just outside of Fairbanks. The cost of these teams is only the cost of the airfare. The camp provides room and board in exchange for an 8-hour work day. Opportunities for sightseeing can easily be arranged, but are an additional cost.

We have been encouraging people to become part of the Katrina Disaster Relief teams which continue to help the devastated folks in the Gulf States. The Great Lakes Work Team Coordinator, Jerry Virtue, helps to develop teams that go to Covington, LA and nearby communities. In PA, Earl Bauder is the contact person for teams going to Pass Christian, MS. Many of our churches have taken their own teams down to help with the relief efforts.

The EC Short Stops is published twice a year, in April and October, to make our members aware of opportunities available and what other individuals/churches have done. We hope that you will use this information to network with others as you consider how God may be calling you into short term missions service.
