Born on June 16, 1962, Mike is the son of Kenneth W. Sigman and the late Flo Geesey Sigman. He lived in the Lancaster County village of New Danville and attended the Bethel Evangelical Congregational Church in Conestoga, PA. It was at a Vacation Bible School in Bethel Church that Mike accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord. His teacher that year (1972) was E.C. missionary Art Davis. In 1980, Mike sensed God's call to pastoral ministry and responded to that call by seeking Approved Candidacy status with the E.C. Church. Approved as a candidate for ministry in 1981, Mike was licensed in 1983 and admitted into the Itinerancy in 1988 which was the year of his ordination. Mike holds a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Lebanon Valley College and a Master of Divinity from Evangelical School of Theology. From 1981 to 1983, Mike served as the Youth Director at First E.C. Church, Palmyra, PA. From 1984-1986, he served as the Youth Pastor at First E.C. Church, Reading, PA. While in Reading, Mike, met, courted and married Jennifer Karen Freiday, who was a New Jersey native and a graduate of Albright College. They were married at the altar of First Church, Reading, having been introduced to each other by Ruth Cattermole Jackins. In June, 1986, Mike and Jenny moved tot he Baltimore County community of Rosedale, MD to plan an E.C. Church. The Rosedale Community E.C. Church was chartered in 1988 and until June 1999 they pastored this growing congregation. Since 1999, Mike has served as Bishop of the Evangelical Congregational Church. On December 9, 1991, Kate Elisabeth was born into the Sigman family. She was joined by sisters, Carolyn Grace on December 12, 1995, Amanda Joy on January 11, 1999 and Lydia Hope on October 11, 2001.
