PROJECT

BOOKLET

2012

Compiled By the

Global Ministries

Commission

Introduction

The information and ideas in this booklet have come from a variety of sources.  Mostly, they are the suggestions from our global ministries staff serving around the world, in response to our request for ideas.  We thank each one who has contributed ideas for the booklet.

We praise God for the selfless dedication of all who serve in this Global effort to make Christ known around the world.  We praise God for the people who pray, work, and give to support them in their efforts.

Our prayer is that you will find this booklet helpful in your local activity, and that it might be a means of bringing people together to become more personally involved in the work.  We are confident that doing some of these projects will provide a  great sense of satisfaction in a job well done, as well as helping the global ministry through the workers in the field.

God bless you.

 PROJECT IDEAS

Letter Writing to Global Ministry Personnel

“As cold waters to a weary soul, so is good news from a far country.”

(Proverbs 25:25 The Berkeley Version of the Holy Bible)

When writing to our Global Ministry Personnel, wherever they are serving, here are ten things you can share:    1. We are praying for you

                           2.  News about your family and their friends

                           3.  News about the church, especially if yours is their home church

                           4.  News about the denominational activities

                           5.  Magazine or newspaper clippings

                           6.  Cartoons and jokes

                           7.  Special Bible verses

                           8.  A photo or you and your family

                           9.  Local sports news, especially if they are from your area

                          10.  Stuff:  a pack of seasoning, Kool-aid, stick of gum, stickers, flavored teabag,

                                             Instant coffee packs, children’s drawings

Please remember the birthdays and anniversaries with cards and “stuff” (No. 10)

Write letters or email missionary children if they are away at boarding school or college.  (If you have Facebook, utilize that to connect with the children or Global Personnel), or you can try skype to contact your missionaries.

Who should write:

All Christians:  There is nothing that will increase your interest in the global ministry of

the church and your prayer support for the workers more, than the personal touch of

correspondence, and that includes e-mail.  In regard to the use of e-mail, however, remember that many of the global ministry workers must pay by the minute to pick up their e-mail, and photos are especially expensive under those conditions. Do not forward chain emails with graphics.

Church groups:  Sunday School classes, Global Ministry Fellowships/committees and youth groups can write to show their support and interest in the work.  Cards for special         occasions can be passed around for people to sign and write a short greeting.  (Special occasions are: Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, birthdays, anniversaries etc.)
